TP Mechanical named one of America’s Safest Companies

Cincinnati, Ohio (Sept. 17, 2014) – TP Mechanical was named Wednesday as one of America’s Safest Companies by EHS Today, the leading magazine in occupational health and safety in the workplace. The honor recognizes companies based on their safety record over a five-year period, safety programs and overall safety culture.

“This is an incredibly prestigious award and a tribute to our employees and their commitment to making Safety First, Always First,” said Bill Riddle, President of TP Mechanical. “We’ve earned a number of safety awards in the past, but this one puts us into a whole new level. It illustrates what our employees are capable of when they work together as a team to ensure that every employee goes home unharmed every day.”

The other 2014 honorees include: The AES Corp., Alan Shintani Inc., Aqueos Corp., BL Harbert International LLC, The Charles Stark Draper Laboratory Inc., Dressbarn, Egan Co., Field Fastener, Goodwill Industries of Upstate/Midlands South Carolina, Inteva Products LLC, Kirk Erectors Inc., Orica USA Inc., Rockwell Automation Inc., SBM Site Services LLC, Scot Forge Co., Watermark and Westar Energy Inc.

“These representatives of safety excellence come in all shapes and sizes, from firms with several dozen employees to multinational corporations with tens of thousands of employees,” the magazine wrote in its announcement (http://ehstoday.com/safety-leadership/america-s-safest-companies-safety-brings-you-home). “But they have one thing in common: They believe that there’s nothing more important than protecting their workers, the environment and the communities in which they operate.”

TP Mechanical submitted documentation and information to be considered for the award, including support from management and employee involvement. Also included was documentation about innovative solutions to safety challenges; injury and illness rates being lower than the average for its industry; existence of comprehensive training programs; evidence that prevention of incidents is the cornerstone of the safety process; good communication about the value of safety; and a way to substantiate the benefits of the safety process.

The achievements of TP Mechanical and the other America’s Safest Companies for 2014 will be celebrated during EHS Today’s Safety Leadership Conference in Indianapolis, from Oct. 27-29. Best practices from all of the 2014 America’s Safest Companies will be featured in a special section in the November issue of EHS Today magazine.
