Launch your career with TP Mechanical’s Co-Op Program, a hands-on, real-world experience designed to prepare students for long-term success in mechanical construction.

The TP Mechanical Co-Op Program provides students with meaningful, in-person experience across every major area of mechanical construction. Co-op students work alongside experienced TP professionals, contribute to real projects, and gain practical knowledge that goes far beyond the classroom.

This paid program reflects our investment in developing future industry leaders while strengthening our workforce pipeline. Students don’t just learn how projects are built – they learn how teams collaborate, solve problems, and grow their careers at TP Mechanical.

Structured Learning That Grows With You

Our multi-semester co-op experience is designed to evolve as your skills and interests develop. Students rotate through key departments, including fabrication, field operations, coordination, estimating, safety, accounting, construction, and project management. Each phase offers increased responsibility, mentorship, and exposure to real project environments. Successful co-op experiences may lead to full-time career opportunities after graduation.

Each semester follows a structured 16-week schedule, providing hands-on experience and progressive learning across key areas of mechanical construction.

Semester 1

  • Fab Shop (4 weeks)
  • Field Rotation: Plumbing, HVAC, Sheet Metal (4 weeks each)

Semester 2

  • Coordination (16 weeks)

Semester 3

  • Estimating (16 weeks)

Semester 4

  • Safety (3 weeks)
  • Accounting (2 weeks)
  • Construction (11 weeks)

Semester 5

  • Construction (16 weeks)

Semester 6

  • Assistant Project Manager, Estimator, or Coordinator (16 weeks)

Who can apply?

Students enrolled in 2- or 4-year college or university programs, including construction management, construction technology, architectural engineering technology, architectural CAD, and related fields.

No. There are no GPA, prerequisite, or class-year requirements.

Yes. All co-op positions are paid.

The program is fully in-person, with locations in Lexington, KY, Cincinnati, Columbus, and Dayton, Ohio.

College credit may be available if approved by the student’s college or university.

The Co-Op Program focuses on project management, construction operations, and professional development rather than trade-specific training.
