TP Mechanical takes quality assurance and quality control very seriously. Our QA/QC process starts with design assistance and continues through product procurement, installation, testing, and turnover. The end goal is to increase productivity, profits, and innovation while providing a quality product. We believe in a project delivery process that emulates lean construction methods of maximizing stakeholder value while reducing waste. This is done by emphasizing collaboration between teams, including Design, CAD, Precon, Fabrication/Distribution, Construction, and End User.
TP has a quality control assurance agenda that defines the success criteria of the following benefits:
• Safer and more reliable facility systems.
• Greater efficiency and lower cost of installation and operation.
• A higher probability of achieving construction scheduling and budget goals.
• An organized handover to the end-user staff that provides the knowledge and resources to successfully operate the building according to the design intent.
At the core of our quality assurance, there are five basic steps:
1. Design Partnering and Assistance: TP is committed to working hand in hand with the owner and design team to develop a project that all parties are proud to be a part of, both financially and in quality.
2. Procurement Responsibility: The TP project team will ensure the materials procured for installation on the job are the same as those approved for installation. TP receives the procured materials at our internally supported Distribution Center. TP can therefore ensure equipment and materials are stored in a climate-controlled environment per manufacturer’s recommendations. Supplies and materials are verified, sorted, and staged well in advance of the on-site delivery date. TP utilization of our internal Distribution Center minimizes job site trash and interruptions with just-in-time strategic deliveries.
3. Fabrication and pre-assembly: TP has centered its construction operational execution plan around mechanical system fabrication and pre-assembly. This model promotes schedule acceleration, product standardization, and quality assurance. TP fabrication facility maintains a self-imposed ISO 9001 certification as a continued dedication to quality control. Piping and system assemblies are performed and inspected to specific 3rd party reviewed and approved procedural standards.
4. Site Performance: At TP, we pride ourselves on planning our work and working on our plan. We push projects to completion through strategic planning and performance. Working proactively with trade partners on scheduling with the intention to outperform critical milestones.
5. Closeout and Turnover: The TP goal is to have all closeout documents completed to the fullest possible extent and send them before the project is 75% complete. Project turnover is the last mark of a successful project, and TP endeavors to hand over the completed construction without any delay to the end user’s needs.
Metrics of current and past project performance can be acquired at any time from examples such as our daily ISO 9001 Fabrication Product Evaluation Reports, routine system testing reports, and project-specific Rolling Completion Lists. Most recently, TP has acquired Openspace project documentation software to regularly track progress, verify work in place, improve coordination, and reduce risk. TP internally mandates all quality control initiatives.
